My family and I have just returned from a four week trip to Costa Rica and, honestly, I think this might have been the best place we stayed. We arrived in true 'green season' rainforest style in absolutely pouring rain, but we immediately felt cosy and content. Sitting in the open sided common room, with birds fluttering through the trees, Nana and Jeff's lovely music in the background, and a freshly brewed cup of Costa Rican coffee, it was difficult to feel anything other than bliss. Nana and Jeff were the warmest hosts, whose passion for their project and their work shone out. When my daughter asked Jeffrey if it was ok for her to take a book from the library, the response was, "Of course, you are here, this is your HOME." And we really felt that it was. Nana's breakfasts are really very special. Every day brings a fresh fruit platter and obligatory freshly brewed coffee and juice, but also a cooked plated breakfast of something delicious. Nana was kind enough to make gluten free pancakes for my son, who quickly declared them 'the best pancakes he had ever eaten'! Children were made really very welcome - with free toys and games scattered around - and that made the common area very sociable for kids. The only thing we did wrong here was not stay for long enough. For a small area, Bijuagua de Upala really packs a punch in terms of nature spotting activities, coffee tasting, hot springs etc (none of them are walking distance, but all within a 30 to 40 minute drive). I would highly recommend the Tapir Nature Valley night walk, but there were plenty of others too. Overall, it felt really very special to be in a smaller town, somewhat off the tourist trail. Casitas was then remote again - and when night fell, it seemed as though we and the other casitas (very small number) had the whole rainforest to ourselves. Needless to say, we all slept very well indeed. (Of - and how could I forget Nala and Cookie. They were a lovely little unexpected added extra that really added to our stay.) Thank you, Nana and Jeff, for a wonderful stay. We love what you are doing, and the way you do it. We truly hope we will be lucky enough to come back and stay one day.

Real Costa Rica. Perfect place to experience the real Costa Rica off grid. Very comfortable lodges surrounded by nature. Nana, Jeff and the team are lovely people and very proud of their business also really interesting to talk to and find out more about life in CR. If you want to disconnect this is the place., We booked 2 nights as part of a tour as we wanted lots of experiences (Manuel Antonio, La Fortuna, Rio Celeste and beaches).

We stayed in La Luna for four nights in August. Such an incredibly relaxing and tranquil place to stay and we were so grateful to have chosen to stay here. Nana and Jefry were fabulous hosts and nothing was too much trouble, from helping us to connect to a middle of the night call back home in an emergency to arranging taxis in and out of town for a nice evening meal. The breakfasts were excellent and the reception area was perfect for sitting back and enjoying the wildlife. The location, Including all Casitas, is surrounded with wildlife, many you would be pleased to see on an organised tour elsewhere, like sloths, toucans, numerous humming birds, Mott Motts, Trogans, many butterflies and more. We felt very safe, yet totally secluded and part of the rainforest. Whilst here we visited the outstanding Tapir Valley reserve which was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Next time we return to Costa Rica, Casitas Tenorio will be the first place on the list for sure.

Rustic forest hideaway Jeff and Nanna were super welcoming and friendly in this gem of a hideaway in the rainforest. The casitas have a wonderful rustic feel and are each nestled in their own corner of the beautiful forest grounds with lots of wildlife (we watched a family of howler monkeys with babies from our windows).

Nana and Jeff are really helpful with speaking to the various travel operators and also providing information on Costa Rica, the local area etc. They both speak excellent English. The Castitas offer additional space for a family and each have lovely balcony. The main area offers WiFi and breakfast was delicious. Many thanks for having us!

We only spent two nights at Casitas Tenorio whilst travelling across Costa Rica, but really enjoyed our stay. We were greeted by a family of howler monkeys and a sloth, as well as Jeff, and him and Nana were super helpful and great hosts. We enjoyed our time with Nana as part of our local cooking lesson and she instantly sorted out tubing for us, which was super fun. Thank you all!

A wonderful, memorable stay A wonderful, Memorable stay. Very warm welcome, very comfortable, clean and wonderfully unique rooms. The birds, monkeys and other animals all around were incredible and the local activities were great - from tubing to a hanging bridge walk only 15 minutes walk away. The eating area was great with a lovely breakfast and help getting takeaway delivered on the evening as we wanted to eat there. Highly recommended

Perfect authentic stay in rural Costa Rica. We had an amazing time at Casitas Tenorio. The casitas were spacious and spotlessly clean, and it was a beautifully peaceful and authentic place to stay for a couple of days. We particularly loved the trail, and having a baby sloth in the tree outside our casita! Jeff and Nana were wonderful hosts and looked after our every need.

We had a wonderful stay at Casitas Tenorio. The accommodations are simple but perfectly formed and our family of 4 was very comfortable. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and welcoming and helped us with recommendations and bookings. The food was delicious. There was a perfect communality to the place; families all shared the space of the hub (and shared playing with the wonderful little pup, Cookie) but the accommodations were all very private. We saw fantastic wildlife on the site. We would absolutely recommend.

Hidden gem in the rainforest We’ve just had the most amazing few days at Casitas Tenorio. We were given such a warm welcome by Nana, Jeff and all the other staff. The setting is beautiful- we ate delicious homemade breakfast and played cards in the brilliant shared area looking out over the forest. We saw the resident sloth and watched a whole troop of howler monkeys leaping through the trees from the comfort of our lovely casita. The morning farm tour was fascinating and the children loved having opportunity to hand-milk the cow. Casitas Tenorio is also a brilliant base from which to explore the Tenorio National Park, Rio Celeste and much more. Thank you all for a brilliant few days. We hope to be back one day….

Perfect family place to stay We loved this place. So friendly and welcoming. Nana and Jeffrey are there to answer any questions and give you guidance on all things. Feels like you are all part of one big family. The children liked sitting in the communal area playing games. Breakfast was eaten with an outlook of the rain forest with the humming birds feeding. On our final morning we were treated to a view of a baby sloth in the tree by the entrance. Very close up and just a perfect end to a lovely stay.

Pura vida!

We had a lovely stay. Our boys, 5 and 7, loved seeing the sloths and the monkeys, playing Jenga in the main lodge and sleeping through the rainstorms. We loved the activities Nana recommended and booked for us. Jeff pointed out a sloth as soon as a we arrived. I was a little worried about keeping such young kids engaged, especially during the rainy season - we had an amazing time.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Made use of the washing machine and the cooking facilities. Fantastic view over Lake Nicaragua. Loved the trail in the woods and saw monkeys and a sloth. Extremely friendly hosts. The only down side in my opinion was we did not have a car so the walk into town was quite far (over 40 minutes each way) and on the way back this was all uphill. Better with a car.

We spontaneously decided to add visiting the rainforest to our trip and were so lucky this place was free! The house is so lovely - a truly serene, quiet, and gorgeous setting! We went on explorations in the morning and evenings and spent all afternoon reading and napping on the huge deck filled with rocking chairs and loungers. Sunset is lovely from there as well - so many birds and butterflies fly by!The house is spacious and well set up for a very comfortable stay. Kitchen worked great - we cooked all our meals. There are guidebooks filled with all sorts of recommendations and advice. The house was very clean.Nana is the manager for the property and the nearby casitas - she was so helpful and responsive with arranging tours and giving advice. The casitas also looked lovely as well. You can walk the trails behind them and we saw sloths right in the trees over the car park. And a coati roaming the field. If you are thinking of coming to this region - do! and stay here!

We had a wonderful stay at Casitas Tenorio - it felt like home from the beginning. We were warmly welcomed by Nana and Jeff. You can feel that they care about the nature and the people. And also, they can give you a lot of tips for activities nearby and arrange tours for you. There is so much to experience, that we wished we could have stayed longer. On top, we have seen more animals at the Casitas than in any other Nationalpark. However, in my opinion, it's a bit pricey for the area. But giving the great people, nature and arcitecture we will definitely come back to this litte paradise.

Wow what a place. From the second we arrived we were met with hosts that genuinely cared about Costa Rica and our experience here. They were so welcoming from start to finish. We had a beautiful casita. The greenery surrounding it was out of this world. We slept with the windows open because the sound of nature and the wildlife was so tranquil. We saw so many species natural to Costa Rica, had a delicious breakfast, and had a quick tour of how they sustain their property between the plants they grow and the livestock and animals they have. To top it off when the hosts found out we were celebrating our anniversary they had our breakfast table set with a sweet note and gift. We will never forget this stay!

We are glad we chose Mi Casa es Su Casa for our accommodations while visiting the Bijagua area. We met co-host Jeffry upon arrival. He gave us great recommendations of ways to spend our short time in the area. He also pointed out a sloth outside of their reception area within a few minutes of our arrival. The property is great. We were able to see Lake Nicaragua from the driveway! And the birds; there are so many birds. Humming birds, Toucans, Montezuma Oropendolas, White-throated Magpie Jays, Passerine Tanagers, and others. We have a love for animals and permaculture, so we were sure to take the morning farm tour. It was fantastic. We really enjoyed the variety of outdoor seating. The cool evening air on the patio was pleasant after a full day of adventure.

The best Airbnb experience I have ever had. The hosts were amazing, and we saw all of the wildlife from the comfort of the Airbnb area. I would absolutely stay here again.

What a wonderful place. We stayed 3 nights in early February. Great staff, clean and comfortable casita, and awesome breakfasts. Highly recommend staying here. Nice bird viewing from breakfast/reception deck. We had a mama and baby sloth staying in a tree right outside our cabana.

Spent a brilliant few days in Casitas del Sol ☀️. Brilliant fresh breakfasts and excellent and kind service from Nana, Jeffrey & crew. Nana helped us book a local night tour. She was a wealth of information about Bijagua.

I wish we had stayed in Bijagua an extra day or 2 because I loved Casitas Tenorio and Nana was truly a gem. She is the manager at Casitas and was incredibly helpful (speaks English fluently, Spanish, and French, too). She arranged all the activities personally and assisted the cooking class with me and my 13-year old grandson (highly recommend the cooking class as it's in an authentic home of Doña Vicky and she is warm and lovely!) We enjoyed a short tour of the on-site farm where my husband milked a cow and we learned about the local crops (pineapples take 9 months to grow organically!) We stayed in Casita de Sol, it’s a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house with a small kitchen, vaulted wood ceilings, living/dining area (twin bed used as sofa and for extra sleeping), large glass doors opening to the front porch which had a swing and 2 leather rockers. Beds were full size (I would have loved a king, but I made the sacrifice for this place :) ). The bathroom had large windows with a rain shower. Very nice with view of the enclosed backyard and lush rainforest on the side. We had our own paved lighted walkway and garden. Heavenly! It was so perfect for birdwatching and listening to the jungle sounds (howling monkeys abound). The premises are gated and we received a fob to open and close after-hours. The street outside the property is residential, quiet, and peaceful. We took a morning walk and took breathtaking photos. The casitas have umbrellas so only pack your poncho or lightweight rain coat (we stayed June 19-21 rainy season). There are ceiling fans in each room but no air conditioning. There are board games and books to borrow from the reception which we used nightly because there are no TVs. WiFi was weak and unreliable but we didn’t miss it at all. We really enjoyed playing Costs Rica-themed Uno! After Bijagua we traveled to La Fortuna and all we talked about was Bijagua and Casitas Tenorio. Don't miss out, definitely stay here!

A truly amazing experience! Casitas Tenorio was really the highlight of our honeymoon in Costa Rica ❤️✨ The region, the people, the food directly from the farm, everything is a dream at at this B&B. Our casita was like an observatory inside the forest due to its large windows, it’s like sleeping in nature but with all the comfort of a home! And then you wake up and enjoy your breakfast in front of wonderful wildlife, it’s incredible. Thank you from our heart to Nana, Juan and everybody at casitas.

Das Highlight unserer Costa Rica Reise Unglaublich tolles Bed and Breakfast!

I stayed here with my grandparents many years ago and it is one of my fondest travel memories. The food was incredible, the hosts were so welcoming, and the list goes on. The only thing I regret is not staying longer, it really is a paradise. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a holiday experience that they will remember for years to come, truly unforgettable.
